If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.

James Madison

The Constitution... is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the judiciary which they may twist and shape into any form they please.

Thomas Jefferson

Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom.  As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.

Benjamin Franklin

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.

John Adams

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

George Washington

Mission Statement

Under the noble banners of “the common good” and “the general welfare,” the government of these United States has usurped far too much authority and responsibility from the states and the people. As Jefferson said in the Declaration of Independence, whenever a government becomes destructive of the rights of the people, it is the duty of the people to alter or abolish it. Our current federal government is destructive of true liberty, and it is time for we the people to restore our republic to its constitutional limits.

Our current federal government is taking over private enterprise at an alarming rate, and the rate shouldn’t be the alarming part of it all. In the name of general welfare it now controls our lives from the cradle to the grave. The supposed constitutional justification for this is the general welfare clause, but James Madison (rightly called the father of the Constitution) said:

With respect to the words ‘general welfare,’ I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers [enumerated in the Constitution] connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators… If not only the means but the objects are unlimited, the parchment [the Constitution] should be thrown into the fire at once.

What should we do about this? The first step is to elect individuals who will defend Constitutional limits on government. That is why Christian Falconer is running for representative of the 12th Congressional District. The citizens of Illinois can no longer afford to be apathetic and passive about these federal usurpations of state authority and responsibility. We cannot sit idly by as they make temporarily comfortable slaves of our friends and family.

Our problems are not insurmountable, but we must be willing to take corrective actions now. Some of Christian Falconer’s ideas on restoring Constitutional government include term limits, affordable healthcare, strong borders, fair trade, fiscal responsibility, and reduced overseas military presence. If you share these ideas and values, we encourage you check out our position statements on these and other issues.
